Go Isolates® Produces Healthy Results For Lettuce
As part of the East Gippsland Vegetable Innovation Day 2020 (EGVID), BioFlora was proud to display the results of our products growing iceberg lettuce. With a plot size of 8 beds wide x 15mts long Bioflora applied 10 different product combinations at different rates replicated just after planting. These products were Go Isolates®, Isogreen and Fulvex.
What we discovered was that Go Isolates® was particularly effective in encouraging increased yield and improved nutrient levels within the lettuce.
To ensure accurate results, soil tests were taken and tested by a third party, SWEP Laboratories at planting and then at 45 days plus plant tests, just before the EGVID event.
The results on the iceberg lettuce plot included:
- Increased yield by 14.3%
- Improved within range nutrients in soil by 5% over control
- Improved within range nutrients in plant by 20% over control
- Increase in relative beneficial active fungi by 15.4%
- Reduction in total soluble salts by 34% compared control (using grower’s standard program) which increased by 7%
We were thrilled with the results and were excited to share this with our farming community.
As Go Isolates® is manufactured organically with our patented Isolate technology, it offers microbially activated carbon complexes which contain naturally occurring beneficial microorganisms.
As a powerful soil inoculant, Go Isolates® offers growers the benefit of 1500 different microbes (63% bacteria, 33% fungal, 4% algae).
Fortified with Bacillus amyloliquefaciens and Bacillus subtilis, the beneficial bacteria results in an improvement in root development and rhizosphere health.
Go Isolates® creates nutrient and moisture rich conditions which encourage the growth of beneficial soil microorganisms. Enhanced root growth results in improved nutrient uptake for the iceberg lettuce, with Go Isolates® also enhancing nutrient uptake due to its cation exchange capacity.
Reducing the total soluble salts, Go Isolates® species — including Bacillus — secrete polysaccharides which sequester salts. The tissue calcium and magnesium levels were enhanced in the iceberg lettuce leaf, and potassium levels reached desirable levels.
Upon completion of the EGVID iceberg lettuce demonstration, we found that Go Isolates® increased yield, improved soil balance, improved nutrient uptake into the lettuce, enhanced microbial activity and assisted in buffering salts.
